The openness, honesty, and kindness of every member of the group creates such a unique atmosphere (even over zoom) for students to feel comfortable asking questions. Their manner and the relaxed nature of today’s session really added to everyone’s enjoyment of it.
Rachel Speirs (RNCM Chorus Manager) etter «Møt koret» online med Edvard Grieg KorIt was such a positive and enjoyable session and we had many of our choir members and alumni in attendance along with all the members of EGK and Simon who gave wonderful answers to some really interesting questions from the students.
I also wanted to give my own personal feedback as I thought it worth saying that today’s session really highlighted many of the reasons that this group (EGK) in particular are such an asset to the college as a contact. The openness, honesty, and kindness of every member of the group creates such a unique atmosphere (even over zoom) for students to feel comfortable asking questions. Their manner and the relaxed nature of today’s session really added to everyone’s enjoyment of it.
What was evident today was that perhaps unlike some other vocal ensembles, the Edvard Grieg Kor includes members from so many different musical backgrounds, musical and personal strengths, and with such different routes to their careers as professional singers, something which is very inspiring for our members. As of course you already know, the EGK also has such a wide reaching and varied output in terms of performing and outreach work, something which was certainly of interest to many of the Chamber Choir members today, particularly at a time when the live performing industry in the UK is in such a precarious state.
I suppose my overwhelming point is just to say that I think this is a hugely positive collaboration that exists for the Chamber Choir and for the college (I say this both in my capacity as Chorus Manager and also as a Student) and I truly hope that it continues in the future. Thank you wholeheartedly to Simon, Ingvill, Paul, Orjan, Daniela, David, Tyler, and Hilde who joined us today for an uplifting and inspiring session. It was wonderful to be able to do something so positive amidst so much uncertainty.
